Lieutenant Colonel Ben Powell, Jr. was serving as Commander and Team Leader for the second year.  From Tallahassee, FL, LTC Powell entered into the Army in 1957 after receiving his commission from Florida State University ROTC.  He graduated from the Army flight program in 1959 and since has logged more than 4000 flying hours with 999 hours of combat time.  LTC Powell later earned a Master's Degree from Troy State University.
